Scheduling & Visitor Restrictions

We will be rescheduling some patient appointments and procedures in an effort to protect our patients and staff. Conserving personal protective equipment helps us prioritize the needs of those who may require immediate care. Adjustments to scheduled procedures and appointments will be made as requested by the physician, patient or as required by official local or national public health authorities. We will contact you directly if your appointment or procedure is postponed until a later date. During this time, all Palmetto General Hospital facilities will remain open to care for patients who require in-person visits and time-sensitive care. Thank you for understanding our need to take these measures for the safety of all.

Visitor Restrictions

New Visitor Guidelines

At Palmetto General Hospital, we have been adjusting our actions as the novel (new) coronavirus (COVID-19) situation evolves. Out of an abundance of caution, we are changing our visitation policy until further notice. Thank you for understanding that this for your health and safety.

  • General visiting hours are 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm.
  • One visitor per patient at a time.
  • Use of hand sanitation, mask and social distancing required.
  • Check in at Main Lobby Security.

As individuals enter Palmetto General Hospital in areas such as the Emergency Department or registration, hospital staff are asking screening questions about recent travel and symptoms, including fever or respiratory symptoms (shortness of breath or cough).
We encourage you to use alternate methods of patient visitation such as phone, Skype, Facebook, What’s App, etc.
Outpatient Units are also allowing one caregiver to accompany a patient ONLY if required to support that patient’s mental and physical needs, which will be determined by staff on site.
We will continue to work with the State Department of Health, the CDC, and our local Infection Control & Prevention Team to respond to any potential COVID-19 cases that may present at our hospital.

Postponement of Hospital Events

Our top priority is making sure our patients, visitors, staff and community remain safe. For that reason, we have decided to temporarily postpone all hospital events until further notice.

An exception to any limited visitation policy at the hospital is patients with disabilities who require support from family members or staff in order for them to effectively communicate with medical personnel or otherwise receive equal access to medical treatment.
