Feb 12, 2020

Miami-Dade County, Fla. (October 28, 2015) – Tenet Healthcare’s Miami-Dade market, including Coral Gables Hospital, Hialeah Hospital, North Shore Medical Center and Palmetto General Hospital, earns the top “A” grade hospital safety score from The Leapfrog Group. This is the third consecutive year that Coral Gables Hospital achieves an A rating. The group is one of the nation’s leading patient safety advocacy organizations, providing health care information to consumers.

The organization assigns A, B, C, D or F scores to U.S. hospitals based on their performance in keeping patients safe from preventable medical errors, injuries, accidents and infections. The five Miami-Dade hospitals’ “A” scores are part of The Leapfrog Group’s fall 2015 report and can be found in the latest update to the Hospital Safety Score.

“Our hospitals are dedicated to providing safe and effective high-quality care to Miami-Dade County,” said Marsha Powers, CEO of Tenet Healthcare’s Florida region. “This commitment to our patients is reflected in our ability to continuously achieve the highest ratings due to the outstanding work of our employees and medical staff.”

The Leapfrog Group evaluated and graded more than 2,500 hospitals nationwide. Only 782 (about 30 percent) of hospitals received an “A” score. The Hospital Safety Score was compiled under the guidance of the nation’s leading experts in patient safety and is designed to provide the public information that can be used to protect themselves and their families. The Leapfrog Group releases the reports on a biannual basis.
