Palmetto General Hospital Welcomes Distinguished Governing Board Member

Hialeah, Fla. (March 4, 2016) — Palmetto General Hospital appoints Captain Luis Diaz of the City of Hialeah Gardens Police Department as a new member of its governing board. The board is responsible for monitoring, evaluating and continually improving the hospital’s quality and safety of care.

Diaz has over 30 years of experience in law enforcement and has been serving the residents of Hialeah since he began his career as a police officer with the City of Hialeah Police Department in 1984. He worked his way up from an officer to a major in the Criminal Investigations Division & Crime Scene Investigations before transitioning to the City of Hialeah Gardens Police Department, where he is currently a captain in the General Investigations Division.

“On behalf of the administrative team, we are pleased to have Captain Diaz join the exceptional group of leaders on our governing board,” said CEO Ana Mederos. “His background in law enforcement will give us a new perspective, and his knowledge of our community will also be an asset to our hospital.”

Diaz received his Associate of Arts in Criminal Justice Administration from Miami Dade College and later earned his Bachelor of Science from Barry University in Public Administration. He also took a Command Officers Development Course at the Southern Police Institute in Davie. Diaz is a member of the Miami Dade Association of Chief of Police.
