Palmetto General Hospital Names New Chief Nursing Officer

Hialeah, Florida. (September 25, 2015) – Palmetto General Hospital welcomes Barbara Vazquez as its new chief nursing officer. She has more than 12 years of experience in healthcare leadership positions and more than 10 years of nursing experience.

In her new role, Vazquez will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating Palmetto General Hospital’s nursing department and its daily operations, with the overall goal of maintaining high quality patient care.

“We are pleased to welcome Barbara to the administrative team at Palmetto General Hospital,” said Ana Mederos, hospital CEO. “I am confident that her expertise and skill set will help us carry on our hospital’s tradition of excellence.”

Vazquez earned her Associate of Science in Cardiovascular Science from the National School of Technology in Miami and her Associate of Science in Nursing from Miami-Dade College. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix and her Master in nursing from Brandman University in Irvine, California, where she is currently pursuing her Doctorate in nursing.

Vazquez is certified in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Suport and is a registered nurse in the states of Texas and Florida. She is also a registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist.
