From bariatrics to breast cancer imaging, we’ve received many designations for quality care. Palmetto General Hospital Appoints New Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Cristina Mata, chief medical officer at Palmetto General Hospital 

Hialeah, Florida. (July 9, 2015) – Palmetto General Hospital names Dr. Cristina Mata, endocrinologist, as its new chief medical officer. She has five years of experience in serving as CMO at various medical institutions.

In this role, Dr. Mata will be responsible for being a liaison between the medical staff and the hospital administration and governing board. She will also oversee that the high quality of care provided by the hospital remains efficient and effective.

“With her experience and background, Dr. Mata will be an excellent addition to Palmetto General Hospital’s leadership team,” said CEO Ana Mederos. “Her knowledge of the healthcare system will aid us in our mission to continually provide top notch care.”

Dr. Mata earned her Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts from University of Miami, where she graduated with honors. Additionally, she earned her medical degree from University of Miami and completed her residency in internal medicine and endocrinology at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.

Along with being board certified in endocrinology, Dr. Mata holds a Master’s in Business Administration with a specialization in Healthcare Administration from the University of Miami Business School. She has received many honors such as Women of Vision Honoree from Welzmann Institute of Science and Hispanic Woman of the Year Distinction Award.
