Wound Care Treatment Methods

Online Physician Referral or call 1-800-522-5292

Because many factors can cause or contribute to a non-healing wound, doctors may use many different treatment methods to address it.

After being evaluated, each patient receives an individualized comprehensive treatment plan, developed by our program’s specialists, for healing. Led by our Medical Director, our multidisciplinary team coordinates care to help ensure continuity and promote successful treatment. Patient education is a critical component of all treatment. It can help promote successful healing and prevent wounds from recurring.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)

This treatment, designed to promote healing, provides additional oxygen to the body’s tissues. More oxygen, often used in combination with other treatment, can boost the body's ability to kill germs and speed healing. Patients rest for an hour or so in a pressurized chamber that is slowly filled with pure oxygen. The treatment is a comfortable process.

In addition to HBOT, a combination of the following approaches may be used:

• Wound assessments
• Nutritional screenings
• Occupational or physical therapy
• Patient education
• Diabetic education
• Skin care
• Infection control
• Vascular consultations
• Plastic surgery consultations
• Podiatry consultations
• X-ray and bone scans
• Compression therapy.
