This advanced technology enables procedures to be performed minimally invasively with great precision. Using the da Vinci® Surgical System/da Vinci® SI™ System, Palmetto surgeons are performing urological, gynecological, as well as other general surgical procedures.

In the late 1990s, robotic-assisted surgery was introduced with the da Vinci Surgical System at the forefront. This technology makes it possible to perform complex surgeries, in a broad range of specialties, using small incisions and special instruments and visualization rather than large open incisions.

Guided by a computer, the robotic hands can do surgical tasks beyond the capabilities of human hands or the laparoscope. Robotic surgery places a computer between the surgeon's hands and electromechanically-enhanced, micro instruments.
