Palmetto General Hospital’s adult and pediatric Emergency Departments are staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week by physicians, specially trained nurses and technologists to provide care for patients who are experiencing acute problems and who need immediate attention.
Although our Emergency Department is dedicated to ensuring that life-threatening situations are given the highest priority, all our patients are important--including those experiencing minor, non-life threatening problems. All our emergency care is backed by the resources of the hospital.
Upon admission, triage nurses evaluate patients to assess their condition and determine if they require immediate treatment. We keep our patients’ physicians informed. Primary care physicians play a key role in follow-up.
