Hialeah, FL – Palmetto General Hospital announced that it has received 10 CIGNA quality designations for 2009. These designations mean the hospital has met rigorous quality criteria based on nationally-recognized medical standards and expert advice.
Palmetto General Hospital received the following designations: Angioplasty, Caesarean Section, Laparoscopic Gallbladder Removal, Gastric Bypass, Heart Failure, Total Hip Replacement, Total Knee Replacement, Total Abdominal Hysterectomy, Stroke and Vaginal Delivery.

The CIGNA designations are based on the hospital’s effectiveness in treating the selected condition or performing the procedure. The designation measures and weighs complications, mortality and The Leapfrog Group Patient Safety Index.
