Palmetto General Hospital’s Hyperbaric and Wound Care Center recognizes that many factors contribute to healing. As a result, we take a multidisciplinary approach to treatment.
The center’s Medical Director works closely with our treatment team to provide our patients with a high quality of care and attention. The treatment team includes professionals from various specialties, including physical and occupational therapy, hyperbaric medicine, infection control, nursing, diabetes education, dietary. This diversity provides patients with a broad spectrum of treatment options to address the many factors that contribute to healing.
Who is a candidate?
Our Wound Care Program offers hope for individuals with chronic or non-healing wounds of many different types, including:
- Diabetic Ulcers - Venous Ulcers - Pressure Ulcers - Peripheral Vascular Disease Ulcers - Wounds Caused by Trauma - Surgical Wounds - Burns - Post-radiation Burns, including internal and oral
Patients may be referred by their physicians or may contact our center directly.
A Comprehensive Approach to Care
Our multidisciplinary team coordinates care to help ensure continuity and promote successful treatment.
Treatment is based on individualized plans, which are developed by our program's experienced specialists. Patient education is a critical component of our treatment plans to help promote successful healing and help prevent wounds from recurring.
Treatment Methods
Depending on our patients’ specific medical needs, a combination of the following treatments may be included in wound management:
